The new building allows the college to expand its math and science education program, and also fuels the region’s economy with qualified health and human services professionals and teachers.
Through the design of a new, multidisciplinary math and science building, Nazareth College seeks to encourage interaction between the disciplines (biology, chemistry, and mathematics), students, and faculty. Learning environments within the new facility include 20 laboratories and eight classrooms and lab lecture rooms featuring state-of-the-art technology. A greenhouse is used to grow plants for study and research, for community outreach, and for showing teachers how to use plants to enrich the math / science curriculum. The building is seeking a LEED Silver certification through the incorporation of sustainable design strategies, including two green roof gardens.
With a Student Collaborative Center to serve all of the math and science programs, and a new auditorium, the academic science facility is an energetic focal point for the campus.
